Truckers’ group to comply with Manila day-time truck ban

March 2, 2014 9:24pm
A group of truckers has announced it will comply with a day-time truck ban in the City of Manila, a policy that truckers protested against last week by holding a “truck holiday”.
According to a report on “24 Oras” aired Sunday evening, the Alliance of Concerned Truck Operators and Organizations (ACTOO) will comply with the ban, which gives trucks loaded with cargo a window between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to travel on certain city roads.
ACTOO said, however, that the government should keep an eye on how the ban will affect commerce and transportation in the city.
In a “24 Oras” report on Saturday, the Integrated North Harbour Truckers Association (INHTA) said it may hold more protests because members are not satisfied with the adjustments that the Manila city government made on the truck ban.
Recent changes to the day-time truck ban gave trucks with cargo a window from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m to ply the streets of Manila while unloaded trucks are still banned from the roads from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
“Yung pagkakaroon ng window hours, hindi acceptable sa amin ‘yan. Ang gusto naming mangyari ay ma-suspend ang implementation nitong truck ban,” INHTA president Teodorico Gervacio said last week. — JDS, GMA News

For everyone who has been waiting for their cargos for quite some time now, we want to assure you that your item is safe and that the additional delay is due to the above issue. We used to have a delivery of around 8 – 10 containers a day but now we are just getting 1 – 2 containers (that’s a huge difference).
We did not see it necessary to issue this notice last month as we are still not yet seeing/feeling the effects of the said ban but now clients who are eager to receive their cargo are piling up, so are our containers at the port.
Last but not the least, as much as we want to dispatch every shipment in the shortest time possible, we just can’t as some things are really not in our control. With this, we ask everyone to be patient.
As always, we appreciate your support and consideration.
